The backyard revival of this beautiful
existing home consisted of linking two
main spaces with a terraced patio. EJB
Designs developed a Schematic Landscape
Plan to help define the clients goals, recognize
the opportunities and constraints, and identify the
functionality and creativity for enhancing the back
yard. Rather than creating construction documents,
the client found value in hiring EJB Designs to assist
closely in the bidding/negotiation and construction phases.
In this case a hands on approach helped support the client's decisions for contractor selection, details and the handling of
various design elements including:

• Layout of terraced patio, plantings, irrigation, low voltage lighting, drainage and cabana/pergola structure.
• Redefining scale to establish a more intimate connection between the spaces with the use of structural and vertical elements such as the cabana/pergola and ornamental trees.
• Low voltage lighting to enhance spaces during the evening hours while also providing a measure of direction and safety.
• Extensive drainage design enhanced with decorative stone swales and native plantings.
• Buffer plantings and flowering perennials to further define the spaces while creating year round interest.
